Weekend Warriors – Wells Fargo Championship

The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings.  Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring.  Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.

Unless DraftKings brings back weekend golf – please let them know if you’re unhappy – all prices listed for full weekend will be FanDuel. The Saturday names to consider are all DraftKings pricing.

Thursday/Friday recap

For the star-studded field leading into the week, the leaderboard after 36 holes is a who’s who of “who?” (for casual golf fans, at least). Peter Malnati carried his strong Thursday into Friday by backing up a -4 with a -3 on Friday, with a strong approach game (8th) but mostly on the back of his putter – Malnati gained 5.617 strokes putting, 1st in the field. Putting has been the dividing line between the haves and have-nots so far, with the leaderboard’s putting ranks littered with good performances: 1st, 17th, 16th, 19th (Paul Casey?!), 6th, 5th are the SG:P ranks of the top six. That’s the only real factor tying the leaders together, as some have been getting to the green thanks to play off-the-tee (Wise, Day, Schwartzel) while the other half of the top six have gotten it done on approach or play around the greens.

With the cut coming at +4 and the leader at -7, Quail Hollow has yet again shown its teeth, even shortening back up from the PGA Championship length.

Notable missed cuts: Kevin Streelman, J.T. Poston, Trey Mullinax, Patton Kizzire, Tommy Fleetwood, Russell Henley, Gary Woodland, Kevin Kisner, Ryan Moore, Bill Haas, Louis Oosthuizen
