Weekend Warriors – The Players Championship

The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings.  Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring.  Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.

Unless DraftKings brings back weekend golf – please let them know if you’re unhappy – all prices listed for full weekend will be the FanDuel prices.

Thursday/Friday recap

Breaking records on Friday was Webb Simpson, whose only blemish on the course came at the 17th where he found water; beyond that, Simpson was a stud from tee-to-green and on the greens where he gained a MASSIVE 5.209 strokes and 9.085 strokes, respectively. Webb has been a strong putter this week, but he might be one to fade (especially if playing multiple lineups) this weekend as his numbers on Sawgrass have been otherworldly.

Beyond Webb, the top-20 is littered with studs like Jon Rahm, Henrik Stenson, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Sergio Garcia, and Pete Dye-specialist Matt Kuchar. There are plenty of names there that can make a weekend charge so we’re in for some good golf, but how the weekend plays out is so contingent on putting: beyond Sergio and a few random names, the top of the leaderboard is stocked with historically strong putters.

Notable missed cuts: Hideki Matsuyama, Phil Mickelson and his stupid shirts, Brandt Snedeker, Kevin Kisner, JB Holmes, Pat Perez, Charley Hoffman, Tyrell Hatton, Gary Woodland, Luke List, Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy.
