Weekend Warriors

The weekend

Notable missed cuts (+1 was the line): Brandt Snedeker, Adam Scott, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama, Marc Leishman, Jason Day, Gary Woodland, Andrew Johnston, Zach Johnson, Haotong Li, Bryson DeChambeau, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson

Weather consideration: A quick word of caution before getting into everything: the weather here is extremely unpredictable, so what the forecast says right now could easily flip-flop by the time golfers tee off tomorrow morning. That being said, there’s only so much information to use heading into weekend/showdown so it’s important to use what’s available.

Saturday: the wind in the morning will be rough, with sustained winds in the 20mph range with gusts coming in at 25+. That’ll carry over until about 1pm, when gusts will start to die down into a more manageable 10-16mph sustained / 15-20mph gust range. Rain isn’t expected, temps will continue to be in the ~50F range. Target the top of the leaderboard in R3 Showdown.

Sunday: this will be the opposite of Saturday, as the morning is much lighter (13-16 sustained / 20-25 gusts) with the real British Open conditions picking up after 11am local time – gusts above 30mph are expected in the afternoon, although sustained winds will still be light. There’s rain coming with the heavy afternoon winds. Target the bottom of the leaderboard in R4 Showdown (as of this writing).

Total weekend: it’s a bit of a wash with the afternoon getting the best of it on Saturday but the worst of it on Sunday.
