Weekend Warriors – John Deere Classic

The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings.  Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring.  Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.

The weekend

Although the second round has been delayed, there’s little in the way of surprises as far as the cut goes. With a massive MDF still to come, the golfers between -2 and -3 that are still playing would be dangerous plays in the first place.

Notable missed cuts (-3 will be the line): Bryson DeChambeau (WD), Trey Mullinax, Wesley Bryan, Kyle Stanley, Si Woo Kim, Scott Piercy, Chez Reavie, Scott Stallings, Norman Xiong

Weather consideration:  Thunderstorms are rolling in overnight and into the morning, which means that course conditions Saturday morning will be very soft – great for scoring conditions, especially the longer hitters. Weather on both days will be cooler than what golfers saw on Thursday and Friday, but wind won’t be a factor (5-10mph both days). Sunday has chances of more rain and thunderstorms, but it’s only a 40% right now.

The Tour has announced split tee threesomes for Saturday, which means there’s no real advantage with weather considerations.

MDF consideration:  Massive MDF this week; although the players close to the cut line will have that small advantage of slightly softer greens, it will pay to stay away from anyone too close to the cut line if you want them to continue through to Sunday.
