Weekend Warriors – Desert Classic
The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings. Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring. Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.
Prices are DraftKings’ weekend prices.
The weekend
Notable missed cuts: None – read the MDF section.
Weather consideration: No weather consideration at all, winds are expected to sit in the 4-8mph range on both Saturday and Sunday and there’s no rain to be weary of. The temperatures will mostly sit in the 70s, with lows in the high 40s, so the ball won’t travel as far in the early tee times, but it’s nothing to think too hard about.
MDF consideration: The cut rule is a little different this week, as every golfer gets to play the third round with a 54-hole cut coming after Saturday’s round. IF the cut is more than 78 golfers, the cut reverts to top-60 and ties, so consider dialing entries back this weekend or just stick to showdown; there is some ownership advantage in getting riskier players near the cut line after two days, but there’s definite risk/reward.
Other consideration: With the three-course rotation, shottracker data only applies to 66% of the field this week and it only applies to one round apiece. Beyond that, scoring tends to be easier on LQ and NT, so be mindful of who’s playing where on Saturday – all golfers will be on the Stadium Course on Sunday.
