Weekend Warriors – Corales Puntacana Championship
The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings. Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring. Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.
Thursday/Friday recap
Corales Golf Club has proven to be an incredibly easy course through the first two rounds, with the current leader (Brice Garnett) sitting at -13 at the end of round two. Directly behind him are Steve Wheatcroft, Keith Mitchell and Xinjun Zhang at -12. DraftKings scoring will continue to be incredibly high over the next 36, as 19 players have made at least one eagle and 17 players have made at least 11 birdies.
The top of the leaderboard after two rounds is a real mix of playing styles: players like Steve Wheatcroft (T2) and Hunter Mahan (T6) are shorter but very accurate off the tee, while Keith Mitchell (T2) currently sits fourth in Driving Distance and Seamus Power (T6) is 11th in distance with horrible accuracy. For DraftKings purposes – especially with finishing position not making a difference – the recommendation would be targeting the longer players, as they tend to score at a higher rate; Mitchell is a good example of that, as he leads the field with 15 birdies.
Notable missed cuts: Robert Streb, Steven Bowditch, Robert Garrigus, Daniel Summerhays, Smylie Kaufman, Jim Furyk, Zac Blair, Graeme McDowell
