Web.com Tour Results – Louisiana Open by Brett Dadian (@BrettDadianDFS)
The Web.Com Tour event last weekend took place at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, with a former winner, Casey Wittenberg getting to the winner circle again. Wittenberg shot a 2 under, 69, to close the tournament, with a 3 shot lead over second place finisher, Xinjun Zhang. Casey Wittenberg recorded the second lowest four round tournament score in this events history with a 263, the only one better was his 260 he shot in 2012. It is still very early in the season, but it is still very important to not take any events off. We had some low Sunday scores that moved a few golfers inside the Top-25 this week for the season. Keep in mind that the Top 25 on the money list gain their PGA Tour card, with 25 more given out after the Web.Com playoffs. Very confusing, but it will be more clear as the Playoffs approach.
1st. Casey Wittenberg: Money Rank: 87th to 5th
How big is a win? Well Casey has just moved from 87th to 5th on the money list. This is Casey’s 2nd time winning the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, also being done in 2012. He will look to gain his Tour card again after getting it in 2012, he lost it at the end of the year. Wittenberg is a pure accuracy player. He ranks 4th in Driving Accuracy and 7th in Greens in Regulation (GIR). This Oklahoma State Cowboy leads the Tour in Scrambling, just like fellow alum, Rickie Fowler. I think Casey will make the jump, and get his PGA Tour card back.
2nd. Xinjun Zhang: Money Rank: 68th to 11th
A former “bad boy” in China Xinjun is another short hitter that hits the greens at nearly 70%. He has competed in the WBC-HSBC, finishing T21. This week Zhang played very well carding a 69,65,67, and a Sunday 65 to earn a solo second and moves him to $69,403 dollars earned, good enough for 11th place. Xinjun will look to build off this performance in the future.
3rd. Aaron Wise: Money Rank: 53rd to 16th
Aaron Wise made a good jump this week at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. An Oregon Duck in college, and a pro bomber, that hits nearly 82% of Greens in Regulation. Wise grinded out a 7 under on Sunday to earn him quite a bit more cash. The key for Wise to earning a Tour car is Par 5 Scoring. Currently 1st in Par 5 Scoring, where his length off the tee helps him tremendously. This Oregon Duck will look for future success to grab his PGA Tour card.
4th . Adam Long: Money Rank: 67th to 22nd
Another long hitter, Adam ranks 16th in driving distance, and very good GIR. Adam shot a 8 under on Sunday, tied for the best round of the day, to crack the top 5. He has made all 5 cuts this season, which will help him gain a Tour Card. Another American at the top Long has cashed $36,794 dollars this season, and should continue will all around great play. A 5’10 man smashing it out there, with a good putter, this won’t be the last time Adam Long is near the top of the leaderboard.
