Web.com Recap – United Leasing Finance Championship by Brett Dadian
It was a two man race headed into the back nine Sunday, where D.H. Lee edged out Jason Gore in the United Leasing Finance Championship. For Lee, a final round 74 was good enough to beat Gore by one shot. D.H. Lee made his mark in the top 25 money list, showing all the golfers what one good week can do to the rankings. Now in 6th place jumping 142 spots, Lee looks to ride his current form to a PGA Tour card. Just a reminder, it is important for all of these golfers to grind out good finishes, in hope to make the top 25 in the money list. The top 25 will get a PGA Tour card for next season.
1st D.H. Lee – 6th on the money list
D.H. Lee makes a huge jump up to 6th place on the money list after his victory. Lee looking to regain his Tour card, which he he lost after the 2015-16. During that season, he only made 8 of 22 cuts. D.H. Lee is off to a sketchy start to the season, but he is hoping to get back on track after his win.
2nd Jason Gore – 10th on the money list
Gore is another golfer who has some experience on the PGA Tour, missing all 4 cuts on tour this season. Possibly rounding into form Gore has a T14 and now a 2nd this season. If he continues play like this, he could regain his card. Even if he does get his card back, I wouldn’t expect much from him on the PGA Tour.
T3 Scott Langley – 24th on the money list
500 in the OWGR, Scott carded back to back 70s, making him $39,648 on the season, which is good for 24th on the money list. Supremely accurate off the tee hitting 78% off fairways and also good in GIR, Langley struggles to get the putter rolling most weeks. When the putter gets hot, expect to see Langley near the top of the leaderboard.
T3 Roberto Diaz – 3rd on the money list
We saw Diaz play in the WGC earlier this year, but it is the Web.com Tour where Diaz has shown signs of promise. He has jumped to 3rd in the money list and looks like a strong candidate to get a Tour card this season. Very good off the tee, hitting 70% of fairways, and is pretty olid on the greens. We should see Roberto Diaz on Tour next season.
Notable Finishes:
Derek Ernst – T10
Jonathan Byrd – T13
Andrew Putnam – T16
Rob Oppenheim – T25
Aaron Wise – T42
