Web.com Recap by Brett Dadian (@BrettDadianDFS)
The Web.com Tour winner, Matt Atkins, carded four rounds in the 60’s to win the El Bosque Mexico Championship. For Atkins, it was his first time holding a 54 hole, and his first win. Winning this week will help him out big time as he is getting married in the summer. 25 MPH winds couldn’t detour this South Carolina-Aiken graduate from grabbing his first victory, and one step closer to getting his PGA Tour card. Keep in mind, the top 25 on the money list at the end of year get a PGA Tour card
1st Matt Atkins – 6th on money list
Atkins mashes the ball off the tee, averaging 306 yards. When he’s hitting fairways, it should be going well. Only hitting 52% of fairways does hurt Matt, but his scoring profile means he can get hot quick. Jumping to 6th on the money list with back to back performances, Atkins seems to be a strong candidate to earn his tour card.
2nd Sebastian Munoz – 17th on money list
The Colombian came into the final group Sunday, falling short by three shots. But for Munoz, he hopes to see better form. He doesn’t rate out as a bomber or accuracy guy, but a very good putter. Munoz has seen a few PGA events this year, making 3 of 7 cuts this season.
T3 Ted Potter Jr. – 9th on money list
Potter Jr. makes the article again with another great finish. Ted is good off the tee, and that is about it. He struggles with the flat stick. When he is performing well, he is rolling the ball in the cup. Potter Jr. is stringing together a couple good weeks, and will look to ride this heater he is on.
T3 Roger Sloan – 21st on money list
Hard to see Roger on too many more leaderboards, but if he rides this form he could keep climbing on the money list. He doesn’t do many things well, but he does move it out there farther than most. He has played on the PGA Tour a few years back, but saw no success.
Notable Finishes:
T6 Stuart Appleby
T13 D.H. Lee
T19 Jonathan Byrd
T49 Rob Oppenheim
T52 Andrew Putnam
