The First Tee – The Tour Championship

After a week’s break, the final 30 head to Atlanta where DJ looks to crown his first Fed Ex Cup title of his career. A win here would cap an amazing year put forth by DJ, let’s see if he can do it.

Weekly Roundup– The BMW

Scoring a plenty at the BMW as not one but two guys eclipsed the 20 under mark. It’s just unfathomably how good these guys really are.

My Fantasy Week Recap: An overweight on Jordan helped a little bit, but not enough Paul Casey and DJ to help me earn a profit this week. With the limited field this week I’ll try and really narrow down the number of golfers I choose.

The Winning Strategy: Charl Schwartzel’s brilliant -8 under Sunday earned him a T4th, and the 30th position in the Fed Ex Cup standings getting him to East Lake. If you were able to pair him with Castro (who I touted her on the first tee) and Casey and DJ you could have put a bunch of other guys in and still won some very good money.

Right & Wrong
• Where I went Wrong- Not enough DJ
• Where I went Right-Spieth and Scott

Player Ownership Analysis
A ton of Brooks Koepka scattered across our resident users, lets see who else they choose.

SaahilSud – Well after a decent week 2 weeks ago, SaahilSud has been all over the football scene in the absence of PGA tournaments, and I can assure he’s been doing quite well, at least week 1.

The Tour Championship:

Last week the stats had Charl Scwartzel in twice, Scott twice and DJ. Not bad. Let’s see if I can replicate this week. A field of only 30 players, there are a few ways to play it? I myself am tinkering with the approach, possible looking at just 10 golfers, but may cover the whole field as well. Be sure to follow me at @dfsgolfer23 to find out what I decide to go with.

1. Approach shots 200+ – Over 33% of approach shots were taken from yardages over 200 yards. Almost doubling that of any other distance. Let’s take a look at whose best in this field – Scott, McIlroy, Matsuyama, Schwartzel, Thomas

2. Tee to Green – Scott, McIlroy, DJ, Matsuyama, Watson

3. Strokes Gained Approach to Green – Scott, Matsuyama, Na, Schwartzel, Mickelson

4. Par 4 Scoring – DJ, Spieth, Snedeker, Na, Kuchar

5. Strokes Gained Around the Green – Reed, Day, SI-woo ,Spieth ,Snedeker

Player Focus: The Tour Championship

On the Rise: Welp a Jason Day WD didn’t help my pick to click segment, however my main On the rise segment produced: 3rd,4th, 8th, 13th. This week with the limited field I’m going to give you my 6 top picks.

Jordan Spieth-$10,800 Again another decent week from Jordan last week as his game seems to be really close. We know he likes this course being the defending champion, I think he’s got a chance to do it again.
o Target Finish- Top 5

Adam Scott- $10,100 Three straight top 5s? Two top 10’s here in the past, I like Adam Scott to have a chance to take down the Fed Ex Cup this week.

Paul Casey- $9,500 He replaces Patrick Reed on the list, as he’s coming off back to back runner ups. His game looks great and I’m sure he wouldn’t mind a cool 10mill paycheck come Sunday.
o Target Finish- Top 5

Robert Castro-$7,300 Staying on the list after a great third place performance at the BMW, Castro returns home to Atlanta to take on East Lake. It will be his first Tour Championship so no tournament history to go off of, but I like where his game his headed.
o Target Finish- Top 10

Ryan Moore- $6,800 I know he had a terrible last week but when he’s made it to East Lake, which is only 2 other times, he’s finished third and 9th. I like him to make a last ditch effort to get that last Captains pick for the Ryder Cup.
o Target Finish- Top 10

Kevin Na- $6,500 Arguably the best value this week, Kevin Na comes in off a T20 at the BMW and has played decent here the other 4 times he’s made it. (16,19,17) in his last three starts at East Lake, I like Kevin to get inside the top 15, giving you a positive return on the investment.

Pick to Click: Well my luck seemed to have run out last week but we’ll try to score this week.

DJ- $11,700 with only two guys priced over 11K (winners of the last two tourneys) I really only had a choice between those two. I’m going with DJ he looked so dominate last week.

Heading South – Fades

Matt Kuchar may have regained his form as he was a T4, but Jamie Lovemark was nowhere to be found so I’ll give myself a ½ this week.

Patrick Reed- $9,000 purely because of course history, 22nd and 19th in his only two starts here, I just don’t think he’s the best play this week, and you can make a case for almost every guy out there, so with that being said I pick Reed as my fade.
