The First Tee – The Deutsche Bank Championship

Well another Rickie Fowler meltdown led to Patrick Reed’s first title of 2016, and an automatic exemption onto the Ryder Cup Team. Sean O’Hair provided us the biggest surprise and Jason Day continued to defy logic. Let’s dive right in.

Weekly Roundup– The Wyndham

A tough golf course all week for the players added to the lower Draft King scores this week.

My Fantasy Week Recap: A few top 100 performances in the smaller $3 birdie gave me a decent week, but again no luck cashing in the $300.00.

The Winning Strategy: Patrick Reed matched up with Emiliano Grillo and Jason Day provided a heck of a start to your team. If you were able to get Sean Ohair in there, then you had a fantastic start.

• Where I went Right- 20% on Reed, 35% on J-Day, and 20 % on Grillo.

Player Ownership Analysis

Jason Day coming in a T3 and Patrick Reed’s overall 12% ownership I’m sure helped our pros earn some pretty good finishes. Let’s take a look.

The Deutsche Bank:

Nice to see the stars coming out to play this week. All of the top 4 priced guys had decent weeks, the first time we’ve seen that in a quite a while. I expect that train to continue this week in Boston. Let’s take a look at some key stats I am focused on. Last week the stats mentioned 5/10 DK Points leaders. GIR SGAPP 200-250 BALL Par5

1. Approach shots 200-250 – Scott(1,25), Matsuyama(2,8), Schwartzel(3,103), McIlroy(7,3), Kokrak(7,15)
2. Greens in Regulation – Stenson*, Vegas, Knox, Garcia, Casey
3. Strokes Gained Approach to Green – Stenson*, Scott, Matsuyama, Na, Schwartzell, Chappell
4. Par 5 Scoring – McIlroy-2, Day-4, Palmer-7, Woodland-4, Watson-4
5. Ball Striking – Casey, Garcia, McIlroy, Swafford, Dufner

Player Focus: The Deutsche Bank

On the Rise: After a decent week last week the “On the Rise Segment” provided a couple of top 10 DK points leaders (2nd and 9th). Overall I was 7/9 on the cut.

Adam Scott– $10,400 Boy if he hadn’t putted so poorly he would have run away with this tournament. But nonetheless a great week for Scott and at 10,400 I still like his value.
o Target Finish- Top 5

Patrick Reed– $10,200 He’s got to be on this list after the W at the Barclays and some good history here finishing 4th last year. I like him to continue through the playoffs.
o Target Finish-top 3

Rickie Fowler– $10,000 Did he finally find his game? Defending champ? He also let his automatic spot slip away for the Ryder Cup, so he’s going to need another top 5 finish to gain consideration onto that team. You know he loves representing the US so I expect some inspired golf this weekend.
o Target Finish- Top 10

Emilliano Grillo– $9,000 After a second place finish, Grillo only goes up $700. I love the value here.
o Target Finish- Top 10

Bubba Watson– $8900 Another top 10 DK Points leader for Bubba, you just simply can’t lose with him. I expect another solid week from Bubba and boy if he could make a few putts… Watch out. He’s 6/7 here.
o Target Finish- Top 10

Ryan Moore– $7,900 Peaking at the right team, he might make a Ryder Cup push. A win 3 weeks ago and a 7th place finish last week I like his game. He has found some success here in Boston with two 10th place finishes back in 2012 and 2011.
o Target Finish- Top 15

Sean O’Hair– $7,800 Coming out of nowhere to place second @ the Barclays and a 4th place finish here last year I love the direction this is heading. I don’t expect people to rush into him.
o Target Finish-Top 15

Webb Simpson– $6,100 Simpson’s 5/5 in cuts here in Boston with a win already to his belt in 2010. He’s also 5/5 in last 5 starts. The value is superb at 6100.
o Target Finish-Top 25

Jason Kokrak-$5,700 Coming off a top 10 last week at the Barclays, a top 15 here in 2014, and mentioned in a few stat categories including approach shots from each the 200 -225 and 225-250. A hot putter last week @ the Barclays, if that continues this week he can really make some noise from the $5,700 level.
o Target Finish-Top 25

Pick to Click: The first edition of the “pick to click” scored is a bronze medal. I’ll try and get you the winner this week.

Rory McIlroy-$11,100 I’m going to say it now, if he makes putts this weekend he will win. Priced pretty favorable at $11,100 I can envision a Day/McIlroy showdown come Monday.

Heading South – Fades

Charley Hoffman had a decent week coming in 22 for the second straight week and Keegan Bradley suffered a MC and did not advance to Boston.

Henrik Stenson– $10,700 The last time he WD he came back with a 13th followed by a 1st @ the Open. But you know what it’s just worth the risk at this point.

Justin Rose– $9,700 Only 3/6 here in Boston with nothing better than a 16th place finish. I don’t like the salary here.

The Pro Review: After this week’s marvelous performance by CSURAM88 he used below the average number of players and was very close to the largest ownership on one golfer.

Average Players used: 45

Average Largest Percentage Ownership on one Golfer- 63%
