The First Tee – BMW Championship

Jason Rouslin

Many have said that Rory came out of nowhere to win, even though I called it here on the first tee. What’s even more impressive is that he was +4 at one point in the tournament and managed to win the tournament at 15 under. Wow!

Weekly Roundup– The Deutsche Bank

The blustery conditions created a harder course over the weekend, but that didn’t stop Rory from shooting some great scores.

My Fantasy Week Recap: Rory was my top golfer owned across the board, and I profited in almost every contest I played in. The one mistake I made, A HUGE MISTAKE, was taking him out of my main event lineup at the last minute, and putting in Spieth instead. A 1500$ mistake. Brutal.

The Winning Strategy: With Rory, Adam Scott, Patrick Reed all placing in the top 5 and all high priced you needed to find either James Hahn, Jason Kokrak, or Fabian Gomez. If you found one of them, you would have been able to afford both Casey and Walker.

Right & Wrong
• Where I went Wrong- Removing Rory from my ME lineup
• Where I went Right-McIlroy 40% Casey 20%

Player Ownership Analysis

A Rory win with relatively low ownership I’m sure helped some of our players, and I know that one of them mentioned Paul Casey on his Twitter, so let’s see if he followed his own advice. I’m going to show the results of the 1500 main event instead of the $1500 dollar this week.

SaahilSud – If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen me tweet out a few pics from Monday, as I was hanging out with the Draft Kings crowd in the Wedgewood Club Sunday. Our resident player was one of them.

StlCardinal84 – Could the streak continue? Let’s take a look. It looks like he either didn’t have the time for lineup construction this week, or something else, because he only made 10 lineups.

Chaos77 – This week he entered 60 lineups into only the $3. Not sure why that’s all he did but regardless the results were not very impressive at all. 5000th was his best finish.

Nawmsayin – For the second week in a row the same lineup won both the 3$ and the 33$.This user did that by entering only 20 lineups in the 3$ and 10 lineups in the 33$. As you can imagine the lineup was made up of Rory, Oost, Kokrak, Swafford, Casey, Scott.

The BMW:

Well the stats last week had Rory in 3/5. It also had Scott in 2/5 and showcased a few other top 10 finishers including: Kokrak, Casey, and Chappell. Let’s see what I can identify for this week.

1. Approach shots 175-225 – Scott (2,1), Matsuyama (3,2), Watson (6,126), Koepka (8,22), Schwartzel (34,3)
2. Greens in Regulation – Vegas, Knox, Garcia, Casey
3. Strokes Gained Approach to Green – Scott, Matsuyama, Na, Schwartzel, Chappell, McIlroy
4. Par 4 Scoring – Snedeker, Spieth, NA, DJ, Fowler
5. Scrambling – Mickelson, Reed, Donald, Spieth, Baddeley

Player Focus: The BMW

On the Rise: Back on the winner’s band wagon after nailing my pick to click with Rory McIlroy. I also had 4th, 5th, 8th, 8th nailing my Jason Kokrak pick. Watson and Simpson suffered MC ending my week 8/10 including my pick to click.

Jordan Spieth – $10,500 Coming off back to back decent weeks where his iron game has been steadily improving I like him to get himself back in the Fed Ex Cup Race with a win here at Crooked Stick. Priced at a very reasonable 10,500 I like him as base to most of my lineups.
o Target Finish- Top 5

Adam Scott – $10,200 Back to back top 5’s for Scott his game seems to be on the rise. How can you not play him at 10,200? I expect him to be one if not the highest owned guy his week.
o Target Finish- Top 5

Patrick Reed – $9,700 Peaking much? Another top 5? And he’s rewarded with going down in price? I’ll take my chances on another great finish.
o Target Finish- Top 5

Brooks Koepka – $8,000 Like his game this week coming off an impressive Monday at the DB. Reasonably priced and shows up in a few stats above, along with the potential to win this could be the breakthrough week for Brooks.
o Target Finish- Top 10

Ryan Moore – $8,700 Ryan Moore’s streak continued with another top 10 at the DB. Late Ryder Cup push, a win in Indiana might give him some serious consideration from Davis Love.
o Target Finish- Top 15

Kevin Chappell – $7,700 Two weeks in a row he’s put himself in a place to win pre-cut but faltered post cuts, I think eventually Kevin figures it out. Maybe it’s this week in Indiana.

Hudson Swafford – $7,100 Getting into his week because of his 15th place finish at the DB Hudson comes in on a roll making 6/6. I like his recent form and he even showed up on a few stats above. Look for his form to continue.
o Target Finish-Top 25

Billy Hurley – $6,900 Already a winner on tour this year at the QLN, Billy had a great week at the DB placing in 8th. I like that play to continue into this week in Indiana, and with a no cut event, you can expect Hurley to throw up plenty of birdies.

Roberto Castro – $6,300 A rather lack luster Monday gave Castro a 22nd place finish, but at 6300 I believe he offers the most upside of the low priced guys. Look to pair him with a Spieth + Scott lineup.
o Target Finish-Top 25

Pick to Click: I was dead on last week picking Rory. This time its Jason Day’s turn.

Jason Day – $11,600 I know Rory won here at Crooked Stick back in 2012, but I think Day found what he was looking for on Sunday. In fact, he had a great weekend overall as he was on the verge of missing his first cut in a long, long time.

Heading South – Fades

Well an absolutely dreadful Monday from Justin Rose made me 2/2 on the week on guys to fade. Let’s see if I can duplicate it for this week.

Matt Kuchar – $8,200 The form just isn’t there right now; I’d avoid this value trap.
Jamie Lovemark – $6,900 In the few holes I followed him his game just seems to be out of shape and he seems to be fighting a lot on the course right now, I think you can do better elsewhere.
