RECAP

The weather rolled in hard last week and it was the perfect chance to stack your lineups with a PM/AM wave. I should have looked closer at it in the hour leading up to lineup lock as it likely would have been a difference maker for me. I did not stack my team and it crushed me for the week. When I opened up the PGA Tour app for the first time, Matthew NeSmith and Beau Hossler were already drawing stone dead, shooting -6 and -7 respectively. While both guys fought back in better conditions on Friday, they were way too far back to get close to making the cut. For the first two rounds, the PM/AM wave shot an average of 140.51 versus 143.42 for the AM/PM wave, nearly a three shot difference. Hopefully, you stacked some GPP rosters to take advantage of this trend, but if not, consider it a lesson for next year when spring arrives and the tour moves through the Florida and Texas swing where there are usually high winds to contend with that can shape the field over the weekend based upon the draw.

The other player that missed the cut for me was Jason Dufner. He did not play that badly and missed the cut right on the number, but the tougher conditions were certainly an issue for him as he hit only 50% of greens in regulation on Thursday and he was not able to help himself with his putter. He was playing much better coming into Bermuda and given the harsh conditions, I am not going to hold this missed cut against him and will continue to monitor his play moving forward as he’s been striking the ball really well in recent months.

The three golfers that did make the cut for me played well. I wanted to pay up for two golfers that I felt would reliably make the cut and hopefully get one into contention. I used Seamus Power and Mito Pereira with Mito finishing 30th and Seamus finishing 12th. Those were not amazing results, but it was such a tricky field last week that only one player near the top really played up to his price with Patrick Reed finishing 2nd while Fitz finished 30th and CBez finished 57th.

Finally, I held my nose and rostered Russell Knox for my other roster spot. He rewarded me with a 12th place finish as that type of course is really perfect for him and always a good spot for him to perform even coming off of a somewhat shaky season. Even when he has not been at his best, he’s still had a handful of strong weeks at courses where his game lines up well. Considering that El Camaleon this week compares somewhat well with Port Royal last week, Knox should be well positioned for another productive week.

Paloma Verde CBD

We have a new sponsor! If you have not tried CBD previously, but our curious, give Paloma Verde a looks this week. Paloma Verde CBD is a family owned business out of San Antonio, Texas run by Carlos and Vanessa Abelar. Cannabidiol or CBD for short, is a natural chemical compound found in the hemp plant and its cousin cannabis. CBD has a rich history and a variety of benefits ranging from reducing inflammation to helping you get a good night’s sleep, without any psychoactive effects. For me, using CBD has helped to reduce tension, relax during the day and I use the Sports Cream on my back and shoulder to help alleviate soreness when my muscles get tight.

My favorites that I personally use:

Strawberry Gummies – they taste great, absorb quickly and help to ease anxiety and keep me focused when I am working throughout the afternoon and evening.

Cool Menthol Sports Cream – It smells great, it’s good for your skin and helps to ease away those aches and pains that I get in my shoulder and lower back.

Nano CBD Softgels (w melatonin) – Do you have trouble settling down each night when it is time to sleep? You are not alone. This mix of CBD and melatonin will help you to relax and then help you to stay asleep throughout the night.

Want to try a sample of a few favorites? Check out the Unregistered Combo Pack for the best deal of all!

If you have noticed over the last couple of years, many players on the PGA Tour are now using CBD on a regular basis with many even using it while they play in the form of chewing gum. If you enjoy our PGA content, then I can promise that you will love what we do with the NFL.

As subscribers to FGI, you are ALL ENTITLED TO A SUBSTANTIAL DISCOUNT on Football Insider Edge. Now that we are in Week 4, I want to open up a discount offer to everyone out there reading this. Use discount code – EDGE119 and select the Season Long + Betting Plan and you will gain access to the entire site for the rest of the season for only $119.99!!

You’ll have access to our lineup builder, wide receiver/cornerback matchup chart as well as Zach’s cash game focused column and Jeff’s GPP plays each week. In 2019, although he did not hit on his long shot bets, he went 12-2 on his regular prop bets. He followed that up last season in 2020 by going 10-2 on his prop bets, improving his overall total to an incredibly impressive 22-4 over the last two seasons.
