I am excited to hear how many of you are enjoying many of the new updates that we are making to the site and everything that we offer here at FGI. The weekly betting picks column is already hugely popular as I was able to notch my first outright win of the year on Cam Smith at 45-1 this past weekend. He looked to be dead going into the easy 18th hole, down a shot and with Brendan Steele in the fairway. Somehow, standing in the rain must have messed with Steele’s head as the group in front of him took forever to finish the hole and he shanked his second shot behind the stands and was only able to make par when it should have been an easy birdie hole to seal the deal.

I love that column in that it puts all of our best ideas together in one place and gets you the information in a quick, clear and concise manner. Our goal this season was to try to be much more efficient in our presentation, whether that be in our columns, on our podcasts or how our tools are presented. If the content does not quite get you to where you need to go with your research, our addition of a slack chat channel should help get you over the top.

Each of our featured columnists are spending regular amounts of time in there and other FGI subscribers have really helped to get it going over the last couple of weeks. One thing that I wanted to note is that if you were unaware, Slack has an App available to download directly to your mobile device. Typically, when I am in between writing, working on the site or just watching some golf, I’ll see the notifications popping up and just jump in to entertain questions. There are a lot of great features that go with the chat features. We have rooms set up for general questions, site support, Euro Tour and whatever weekly PGA event is up for the week. If you are having any issues finding where the conversation is happening, click on the ‘Channels’ link on the left side of the screen and it will pull up all currently available channels. You can also direct message other folks in Slack so if there is someone around that you think is really on the ball, you can chat with them directly. I am sure most of your are aware of how Slack works, but this gives me an excuse to explain it to my dad who sometimes is a little technologically challenged 😉 It’s very handy to have it on your phone so feel free to tag me (@myzteriouzly) and fire away any questions whether I am on or not. I will see the messages and pop in to answer as I have time.

I am also really excited to get out of the snow and cold a few days from now to head down to San Diego for The Farmers Insurance Open next week with Aaron and Statboy. We will be on the course for the first three rounds of the tournament so please shoot me an e-mail, DM on Twitter or Slack chat and we will do our best to connect with you if you are at the tournament. Each year, we’ve had a lot of fun meeting new folks at the tournament, walking the course, drinking a few cocktails and chatting about our mutual love of fantasy golf. With Statboy joining us this year, there will be no shortage of chatter so you will not have to worry about a lack of conversation at any point of the encounter.
