The Daily Spin – DraftKings Preview – Sony Open
We are off and running and what a week it was for readers of The Daily Spin. Going into the playoff, we owned healthy shares of Patrick Reed, JT and X. I only wrote up 12 players, but the first 7 all finished 7th or better. We weaved through the top players and landed on the exact two in the top four that we needed to keep ourselves in the mix up top for GPP action and about the only value play that we missed on was JT Poston, who finished 11th. Most of the lower priced golfers did not finish well so the tournament went much as expected in that you needed to nail the top and hope that the players you selected in the middle held up. It was a fun tournament with a crazy playoff and about the only disappointment for me was that X couldn’t manage to two putt on 18 to win it outright as I had him for an outright and it looked like it was all going to happen at the end when JT hit it out of bounds and X made it to the green in two. Ouch. On to Honolulu!
If you are just getting set back up with FGI for 2020, I want to remind you of a couple of great updates that we have made with the site that should make everyone really excited for the year. The slack chat is up and running and I have been having a blast with it so far. People are starting join, conversations are rolling and folks from our community are now able to connect directly. The feature is a lot of fun as once you get to know folks, you are able to DM them directly in the chat area. As experts in certain areas pop up (weather, folks live at a tournament, people who have played certain courses) you will be able to find them all right there and the FGI team will continue to learn and benefit from each other. Also, if you have not noticed yet, we created a new weekly column for all of you that like to put out a few outright wagers each week or for those that participate in One and Done contests. The weekly betting picks article will be posted every Monday night and will contain 4-5 picks from each of our contributors on players in each range of odds to look at for the week for a wager. We made it simple and give just a brief couple of sentences there on each player so it gets right to the point as opposed to dragging on endlessly like some of my old columns!
