In such a crowded industry, every little bit helps so a bunch of 5 star ratings and a few reviews would be great to see to end our week. Just take one second before you dig into the column for the week and once your review posts, e-mail me the name you left your review under, and I’ll give away some cool merchandise just for helping us out.

This past week, we got another awesome review from Adrian Daniels who took a couple of minutes to write some really nice compliments that were hugely appreciated. We sent him and FGI shirt and as long as people want to take the time to help us out, we’ll keep that trend going.

RECAP

What a weird week for me at Sanderson Farms. I absolutely nailed my value plays, but my top tier guys were a complete bust. I did manage to cash for the week in both GPP and cash games, but it was frustrating to see so many low dollar guys perform well, but then have their performances wrecked in so many GPP lineups by guys who did not perform like Will Zalatoris and Sam Burns.

Going into Sunday, I had a bad feeling that Sergio would come out on top. After being mostly lost the last few months out on the course, he came to life in a week where I had three strong outrights in play going into Sunday with Cam Davis, Denny McCarthy and Kristoffer Ventura all in contention and also all on my cash game roster for the week. I tweeted out on Saturday night that it was no shock to me that Sergio was likely to win the tournament, literally with his eyes closed since I had so many strong names in the mix to get the win.

Even the big names that I did not use in cash games had their problems. It took another birdie on the final hole of the second round on Friday to get Sungjae through to the weekend where he finally came to life on Sunday to finish 28th. Scottie Scheffler likewise stumbled out of the gates, but played well enough to make the cut Friday and lumbered to a 37th place finish.

Fortunately, most of the guys I wrote up for cash plays in the middle range played really well. Charley Hoffman, Denny McCarthy, Kristoffer Ventura and Cam Davis all finished tied for 6th place which helped most of the FGI folks into the money. Adam Schenk gave us exactly what we hoped for with a 32nd place finish for the very low salary of 6700.

The big disappointment was in not having some shares of Sergio. If you rode it out with him through a lot of bad performances over the last few months, congratulations. You earned that payoff. I did not see anything in his game coming in to indicate that a resurgence was on the way, but he has always been a strong tee to green player and apparently, putting with your eyes closed can somehow make all the difference. I did have some shares of JT Poston so it was disappointing to see him get bested, but Sergio’s approach shot on 18 was incredible so he certainly earned the win.
