After Thursday’s round ended, I was not feeling terribly excited to write this column tonight with some of the meltdowns that took place early on. While there were still a couple of very disappointing performances with JT Poston and Russell Henley each going over the cliff on Friday, enough of our guys rallied through so that our cash games are still live and depending on how you structured your GPP rosters, you should have a good chunk of live teams in play. Jeff was right on once again with his tee time all as the AM/PM stack worked out really well with more than a two stroke difference between yesterday morning and afternoon, a difference that was much more muted on Friday. Jason Kokrak roared out ahead of the pack and is five shots clear of Billy Horschel in 2nd place and six shots clear of a slew of golfers tied for 3rd including Dustin Johnson, who at this point is actually still the odds on favorite to win the tournament despite being so far back.

The winds proved to be a huge factor as predicted in the first two rounds with gusts getting up as high as 25 mph and creating some tough situations off the tee for players like Jordan Spieth, who hit consecutive shots out of bounds on the 16th hole on Friday to blow the cut after it looked like he would coast into the weekend. Most weeks when the winds have been high early, they have continued to be high throughout the weekend. However, this week is different as the winds are expected to be a non-factor over the weekend, dropping off to only about 10 mph at a peak on Saturday afternoon. There is a chance of rain tomorrow, but nothing that should make us strategize about loading up on one tee time or another.
