From past experience, we knew this course was going to play tough. What we did not realize was just how tough it was going to be. Even with a weaker field, I had not anticipated that the cut would ever reach a number like +4. By the time the blood letting was over, a lot of good players had been wiped out and only a few 6/6 rosters remained. Welcome to Weekend PGA folks! Glad you had the chance to stop by to commiserate with your fellow degenerates. After a first couple of days like that, it is nice to have the option to just clear the board, start from scratch and work our way back into the tournament.

Fortunately, now that the first couple of rounds are over, we have had a good chance to evaluate the course a little bit to see if we can glean anything for tomorrow. The first factor to note is that there is NO MDF this week. What a relief! This means that we can go dumpster diving without the fear of having lineups crushed due to a Saturday afternoon cut. This means that we really want to focus our attention on the best players at the bottom of the leaderboard with the chance to rise up over the last two days. The next factor to look at for the weekend is the weather. Tomorrow is going to get a little difficult by afternoon as the chance of rain picks up at around 11 am with storms becoming likely between 2-4pm. While the winds are going to be at around 10 mph for most of the day, the storm activity is definitely an issue and something that I will look to avoid. With the first group of players teeing off at 7:55 am local time, and no real weather issues to report on for Sunday, my strategy for the week is going to be very simple. I am looking to roster players that have early tee times and particularly those who are capable of making a lot of birdies. The AM/PM wave really ended up getting the worst of it the first two days by almost a two stroke difference so I think those players going off early tomorrow are going to have a real advantage this weekend.
