Fantasy Golf Insider Beat the Experts FanDuel Contest
Before I breakdown the Valspar Championship and the excellent field that will tee it up in Palm Harbor, Florida, be sure to click on the “Fantasy Golf Insider Beat the Experts FanDuel Contest” link above and get an entry into this exclusive FGI contest over on FanDuel. FanDuel gave the contest another bump from 150 total entries to 200 so there is a chance of a little bit of overlay this week. This is a great contest to gauge your PGA DFS skills competing against the team here at FGI without putting too much at risk with your bankroll. Furthermore, FanDuel has been running decent contest sizes and hopefully they will continue to grow with more interest because frequent readers of this column know that I have a pretty decent track record of identifying quality player pools that gives Team FGI a significant advantage over the competition. This week should be no different for the Valspar Championship.
Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club’s Copperhead Course is the host once again for the Valspar Championship and this will be the third year since the course overhaul. It measures 7,340 yards in length and plays as a par 71 that features four par 5s and five par 3s. Taking advantage of the scoring opportunities on those par 5s is key while managing par everywhere else is usually the formula for a good round. The Snake Pit consists of Hole Nos. 16, 17 and 18 and each hole has averaged over par in every year of this event. Successfully navigating this stretch of golf is necessary for those looking to contend. Weather is also going to be a factor this week. Winds will be gusting more than 20 mph on Thursday before things settle down on Friday and hopefully Saturday. Sunday will be a difficult task for those still in contention as it will potentially be the windiest day of the tournament and have a high chance of storms.
The FGI PGA Interactive Model is going to assist us with our lineup building process because it identifies the best golfers with solid Current Form and whose Key Stats set up nicely for the Copperhead Course. It also allows us to factor in Course History as well as an emphasis on Vegas (odds to win). Below are the FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weights I will be using this week along with the Key Stats weights for the Valspar Championship provided by our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics:
FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weights:
Current Form: 30%
Key Stats: 35%
