Fantasy Golf Insider Beat the Experts FanDuel Contest

Before I breakdown the Valero Texas Open and the difficult task at hand for the golfers that will tee it up in San Antonio, Texas, be sure to click on the “Fantasy Golf Insider Beat the Experts FanDuel Contest” link above and get an entry into this exclusive FGI contest over on FanDuel.  This is a great contest to gauge your PGA DFS skills competing against the team here at FGI without putting too much at risk with your bankroll.  Furthermore, FanDuel has been running decent contest sizes and hopefully they will continue to grow with more interest because loyal readers of this column know that I have a good track record of identifying quality player pools that gives Team FGI a significant advantage over the competition.  This week should be no different for the Valero Texas Open.

The AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio hosts the Valero Texas Open and it will continue to do so for quite some time as an extension with the existing sponsorship was reached through 2028.  Going forward however, it will be the event that precedes the Masters.  The AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio is a stock par 72 measuring 7,435 yards in length.  Leaders in SG: Off-The-Tee will have a significant advantage as there is a premium on distance and accuracy off of the tee.  Landing the ball close to the pin is usually a requirement to contend here as well so golfers with a solid tee-to-green game will be the ones worth targeting this week.  This is another course where par is considered a good score so golfers who can also stay out of trouble should be in the mix come Sunday afternoon.  Lastly, weather is usually a factor and the golfers who can control their ball flight in windy conditions will have an advantage.

The FGI PGA Interactive Model is going to assist us with our lineup building process because it identifies the best golfers with solid Current Form and whose Key Stats set up nicely for the AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.  It also allows us to factor in Course History as well as an emphasis on Vegas (odds to win).  Below are the FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weights I will be using this week along with the Key Stats weights for the Valero Texas Open provided by our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics:

FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weights:

                Current Form: 40%

                Key Stats: 30%

                Vegas: 10%

                Course History: 20%

FGI PGA Interactive Model Key Stats weights:

                SGT2G: 25%

                SGOTT: 10%

                SGP: 25%
