The RSM Classic is the last official event with a full field in the 2018 portion of the 2018-19 PGA TOUR season.  This will be the last chance golfers have at gaining some valuable FedExCup and ranking points before the holiday break.  A lot of the golfers in the field this week have connections to Sea Island, Georgia and have experience playing on the two courses that co-host this event.  Sea Island Resort’s Seaside and Plantation Courses will be played on Thursday and Friday and then only Seaside will be used for the final two rounds.  There are a few strokes to be gained during a golfer’s round at the par-72 Plantation course however.  Specifically, that course is more tree lined with water hazards around a lot of the holes.  Golfers who are accurate off of the tee and have a solid approach game should come out ahead here.  The Seaside course at Sea Island Resort is a par 70 measuring just over 7,000 yards.  It is very similar to a links style course, but the past leaderboards would not suggest that.  There will be plenty of scoring opportunities for the golfers who are accurate off of the tee and who can control their ball flight if the conditions get windy.  The big hitters do not have their typical advantage with length off the tee because driving accuracy and landing the ball close to the pin are more of a premium here.  This event over the years has seen a couple big MDF cuts after the third round so do not be surprised if that is the case again this year.  Finally, the latest weather forecast for Sea Island, Georgia can be found here.

The FGI PGA Interactive Model is going to assist us with our lineup building process because it identifies the golfers with solid Recent Form and whose Key Stats set up nicely at Sea Island Resort’s Seaside Course.  It also allows us to factor in Course History as well as an emphasis on Vegas (odds to win).  Below are the FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weightings I will be using this week along with the Key Stats weightings for The RSM Classic provided by our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics:

FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weights:

                Recent Form: 25%

                Key Stats: 25%

                Vegas: 25%

                Course History: 25%

FGI PGA Interactive Model Key Stats weights:

                SGT2G: 25%

                SGOTT: 7.5%
