THE PLAYERS Championship may have returned to a March date, but it is still commonly acknowledged as the fifth major.  The best players in all of golf will tee it up in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida to see if they have the game to prevail at TPC Sawgrass.  The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is an iconic Pete Dye design that was built precisely for this event.  It will test every facet of a golfer’s game.  The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass plays as a par 72 measuring at 7,189 yards, but it will probably a little bit longer than that this year because of the over seeding that took place to accommodate the shift back to March.  Overall, the course allows for all types of golfers to have a chance this week.  However, the tee-to-green specialists that can land the ball close to the pin will likely be the ones threatening to win.  This is a course that requires precision throughout with an emphasis on Strokes Gained: Approach the Green.  Most especially on the island-green 17^th hole where a big number could end up on your scorecard.
