The Sony Open in Hawaii is our first event of 2018 with a full field and a cut after the second round. The last four years also featured a MDF cut after the third round since too many golfers made it through the initial cut. Events with a cut typically give FGI members an advantage because the tools and expert advice here at FGI are second to none. From Tournament History to the new FGI PGA Interactive Model, all of the FGI PGA Tools should be part of your weekly process with PGA DFS as they are mine. My goal of this column is to give you another lens of the player pool and hopefully help you narrow down your list of FanDuel golfers to consider each week. Last week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, a “Stars and Scrubs” lineup approach proved to be a profitable one for most contests over on FanDuel. Lineups with DJ, Spieth and Fowler were at the top of most leaderboards because the value at the bottom last week to fill out those lineups did enough to match or beat other golfers whose salaries were much higher. It would be wise to not get as top heavy with your lineups though this week at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Things will probably play out a little bit differently with golfers in the $7k salary range because they come with a lot of risk.
