Fantasy Golf Insider Beat the Experts FanDuel Contest

Before I breakdown the Houston Open and a quality field of 144 that will tee it up in Humble, Texas, be sure to click on the “Fantasy Golf Insider Beat the Experts FanDuel Contest” link above and get an entry into this exclusive FGI contest over on FanDuel.  FanDuel bumped the total entries back up to 200 but there is a chance of a little bit of overlay due to the possibly of people holding out until the Masters next week.  Either way, this is a great contest to gauge your PGA DFS skills competing against the team here at FGI without putting too much at risk with your bankroll.  Furthermore, FanDuel has been running decent contest sizes and hopefully they will continue to grow with more interest because frequent readers of this column know that I have a pretty decent track record of identifying quality player pools that gives Team FGI a significant advantage over the competition.  This week should be no different for the Houston Open.

The Houston Open is viewed by many in the field this week as an ideal tune-up event for Augusta next week.  The Tournament Course at the GC of Houston is setup to look as close to Augusta as possible and also replicate the challenges that Masters qualifiers will face next week.  The stock par 72 measures 7,441 yards in length with the primary rough trimmed to just 1.25 inches so accuracy off of the tee is not a must in order to contend here.  For the most part, this tournament has been won by lower ranked players so try not to get too top heavy with your lineups this week.

The FGI PGA Interactive Model is going to assist us with our lineup building process because it identifies the best golfers with solid Current Form and whose Key Stats set up nicely for the Tournament Course at the GC of Houston.  It also allows us to factor in Course History as well as an emphasis on Vegas (odds to win).  Below are the FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weights I will be using this week along with the Key Stats weights for the Houston Open provided by our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics:

FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weights:

                Current Form: 25%

                Key Stats: 35%

                Vegas: 15%

                Course History: 25%

FGI PGA Interactive Model Key Stats weights:

                SGT2G: 25%

                SGP: 25%

                DD: 5%

                PROX: 15%

                SPROX: 10%

                PAR5: 5%

                BOB%: 15%
