When the Houston Open was last on the PGA TOUR schedule, it was viewed by many as an ideal tune-up event for The Masters the following week.  The Tournament Course at the GC of Houston was setup to look as close to Augusta National GC as possible and replicate the challenges that Masters qualifiers would face.  After sitting out last year, the Houston Open returns this fall season after an agreement was reached with the Astros Foundation.  With its new spot on the PGA TOUR schedule, it can be expected that the GC of Houston will play slightly different than before.  Specifically, the primary rough has been allowed to grow longer and the greens will run a little bit slower.  It remains a stock par 72 course that measures 7,441 yards in length.  The investment by the Astros Foundation also sparked a transition to a new venue so this will also be the final year that the GC of Houston hosts of the Houston Open.  Starting next season, Memorial Park Golf Course will take over.
