Fantasy Golf Insider Beat the Experts FanDuel Contest

Before I breakdown the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the glitzy field of professionals and celebrities that made the annual trip to Pebble Beach, California, be sure to click on the “Fantasy Golf Insider Beat the Experts FanDuel Contest” link above and get an entry into this exclusive FGI contest over on FanDuel.  FanDuel continues to give the contest a nice bump from 75 total entries initially to 150 so it is important that it fills.  This is a great contest to gauge your PGA DFS skills competing against the team here at FGI without putting too much at risk with your bankroll.  Furthermore, FanDuel has been running decent contest sizes and more than likely, this will be one of the final tournaments to take advantage of any NFL DFS crossovers attempting to test their luck in PGA DFS.  Hopefully FanDuel PGA contests will continue to grow with the more interest though because frequent readers of this column know that I have a pretty decent track record of identifying quality player pools that gives Team FGI a significant advantage over the competition.  This week should be no different for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is the final event this season that will be played over multiple courses.  The unique format means that the pros will have their patience tested over 18 holes each day as the celebrities they are grouped with attempt to steal the TV spot light.  Winners have come from all over including the world’s best and journeymen so it is difficult to rule anyone out.  A little bit of luck will probably be necessary over the first three rounds in order to be in contention come Sunday and weather usually plays a factor in the outcome as well.  The current forecast for the Monterey Peninsula however is setting up for ideal golfing conditions during all four rounds.  The one common denominator all of the previous winners seem to have is experience playing in this event before.  Finally, the standard PGA TOUR cut rule will be applied after every golfer completes one round on each course but only the low 60 and ties will play the final round at Pebble Beach Golf Links.  For fantasy purposes, this MDF cut is just the same as a MC even though those MDF golfers will receive FedExCup points and earnings.

Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore Course will be played on over the first three rounds before concluding on Pebble Beach Golf Links on Sunday.  Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course will play as par 72s, while Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore Course is a par 71.  All three courses are under 7,000 yards and landing your ball close to the pin will be essential all week.  Of the three courses, Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore Course will be the easiest to score on followed by Pebble Beach Golf Links.  Spyglass Hill Golf Course will be a bit more difficult for most golfers this week but in potentially outstanding golfing conditions, scores might be lower than normal there.

The FGI PGA Interactive Model is going to assist us with our lineup building process because it identifies the best golfers with solid Current Form and whose Key Stats set up nicely for the Pebble Beach Golf Links.  It also allows us to factor in Course History as well as an emphasis on Vegas (odds to win).  Below are the FGI PGA Interactive Model Overall weights I will be using this week along with the Key Stats weights for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am provided by our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics:
