The 3M Open in Blaine, Minnesota makes its debut as another brand-new PGA TOUR event this week.  The event will be played at TPC Twin Cities which hosted the 3M Championship on the PGA TOUR Champions from 2001-2018.  It is an original Arnold Palmer designed course that Tom Lehman recently updated in order to better challenge the modern PGA TOUR player.  Overall a net 354 yards were added to the course along with some additional trees.   Furthermore, fairways were narrowed, bunkers were restructured, and water hazards were extended.  Only the pure bentgrass greens remain unchanged.  TPC Twin Cities will now officially play as a par 71 that measures 7,468 yards in length and much like last week in Detroit, all different types of golfers should find success here.  Another low scoring event should also be expected.  The longer hitters will have an advantage on the three drivable par 4s but ultimately the golfers who keep their ball in play and are accurate with their approach shots will be the ones making the cut and likely in the mix over the weekend.  However, those who also get hot with their putter will be the ones threatening to win because 20+ birdies will probably be required to get the job done.
