The Travelers Championship turned out to be a very successful event for The Albatross.  Between the write-ups and Honorable Mentions, 14 of the 15 golfers made the cut and nine of those finished in the Top 20.  Unfortunately, the Justin Thomas we saw during the first three rounds of the U.S. Open did not show up, rather the one from the fourth round did.  This was particularly frustrating for a stats and data person like myself because he could have easily been the one taking home the top prize if the mental aspect of his game was still intact.  Jordan Spieth proved to be a worthy winner though.  His hole out from a greenside bunker for birdie during the first playoff hole against Daniel Berger was a shot for the ages.  In the world of DFS Golf we must shift our attention quickly and now it is time to analyze the field for the Quicken Loans National.  There will be less room for error when building our lineups due to the smaller field.  We also do not have any relevant course history to work off of but I am confident that Team FGI is up for the task and will have the winning lineups come Sunday afternoon.

TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm by all accounts appears to be a ball striker’s course.  Accurate tee shots accompanied by a solid approach game landing the ball close to the pin will be the recipe for success here.  Putting and scrambling will almost surely will come into play around this venue as well.  The winner will probably have to do a little bit of everything and that is the type of golfer we need to be targeting this week.

As always, the FGI PGA Model is going to assist us with our lineup building process because it identifies the best golfers with solid Current Form and whose Key Stats set up nicely for this course.  It also allows us to factor in Course History as well as an emphasis on Vegas.  As I previously mentioned though, we do not have any Course History to go off of this week so will have to distribute our normal allotment for that to the other three Overall metrics.  Below are the FGI PGA Model Overall weights I will be using this week along with the Key Stats weights for the Quicken Loans National courtesy of our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics (@FGMetrics on Twitter):

FGI PGA Model Overall weights:

                Current Form: 35%

                Key Stats: 40%

                Vegas: 25%

                Course History: 0%

FGI PGA Model Key Stats weights:

                SGT2G: 25%

                SGP: 25%

                DA: 10%

                PROX: 15%

                BOB%: 10%

                SCRAM: 15%
