With the Shell Houston Open in the rear view mirror, we can now shift our attention to one of the greatest events in golf…  The Masters.  I do think it is important though to not forget everything that happened at the SHO because a few things that took place there will help point us in the right direction with some of our picks this week.  Specifically, the SHO course lays out similarly to the one that we’re going to see at Augusta and I think we should keep that in mind with how a few golfers performed there as we’re making our picks for Rd 1-2 & Rd 3-4.   I also think it is important to consider some of the mindsets a few of the golfers had last week that already had invites to the Masters.  We saw some top tier guys basically mail it in after their first round, hole or swing.  I’m sure the weather terrorists had a lot to do with that because a bunch of these guys didn’t want to stick around if the final round got postponed until Monday.  I mention this because I don’t think that just looking at the final scorecards from last week tell the whole story.

Someone on the FanDuel PGA pricing team must’ve read my column from last week because their pricing is definitely sharper for the Masters than it was for the Shell Houston Open.  I’m still getting a feel with how their pricing algorithm works but I think it’s fair to say that for this event that they followed the sportsbook odds real closely.  Even so, utilizing the right DFS Golf tools will exploit a few pricing inaccuracies for us.  That’s where the FGI PGA Model is absolutely critical this week to assist you with your research.

Overall FanDuel Strategy for The Masters:  Pricing is sharper this week so we’re going to want to use two sets of optimal Overall weights in the FGI PGA Model when selecting golfers for Rd 1-2 and 3-4.  For Rd 3-4 golfers, we will have heavy emphasis on Current Form but not as much as we typically do on Key Stats.   Rather I’m personally putting a little extra weight on Course History since a major, like the Masters, is just when certain golfers show up.  For Rd 1-2 golfers, we’re going to put most of our emphasis on Current Form but then Key Stats again and not as much on Course History.  The rationale is that I think there are some golfers without any Course History here that definitely deserve our consideration for these slots in our lineup.  Below are the Key Stats weights for The Masters courtesy of our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics (@FGMetrics on Twitter):

FGI PGA Model Key Stats weights:

                SGT2G: 30%

                SGP: 25%

                DD: 5%

                PAR5: 10%

                BOB%: 15%

                SCRAM: 15%
