The RSM Classic is the last official event with a full field in the 2017 portion of the 2017-2018 PGA TOUR season.  This will be the last chance golfers have at gaining some valuable FedExCup and ranking points before the holiday break.  A lot of the golfers in the field this week have connections to Sea Island, Georgia and have experience playing on the two courses that are used during the first two rounds of this event.  Course history is a little tricky to analyze though because back in 2015 not only did this event go to a full field, but also introduced a new course.  Golfers now play both the Plantation and Seaside course on Thursday and Friday then switch to the Seaside course for the final two rounds.  The Seaside course will be the primary one used when looking at course history but it is also important to be aware what advantages can be gained by playing the one round on the Plantation course.  Specifically, that course is more tree lined with water hazards around a lot of the holes.  Golfers who are accurate off of the tee and have a solid approach game should gain a few strokes here.  In regards to FanDuel’s pricing this week, it is a little bit more difficult to get a grasp on because there really is no clear cut favorite.  Unlike last week where Rickie Fowler was the clear favorite and was an automatic lock for lineups, this week there are 4-10 golfers that are clumped at the top of the betting market that could be considered one of the favorites to win the RSM Classic.  Finding value out of this group of golfers will be the key to a winning lineup.

The Seaside course at Sea Island Resort is a par 70 measuring a shade above 7,000 yards.  It is very similar to a links style course but the past results would not suggest that.  There should be scoring opportunities for the accurate golfers who can control their ball flight in windy conditions.  The big hitters do not have their typical advantage with length off the tee because driving accuracy and a sharp long game are more of a premium here.  This event over the years has seen a couple big MDF cuts after the third round so do not be surprised if that is the case again this year.

The FGI PGA Model is going to assist us with our lineup building process because it identifies the best golfers with solid Current Form and whose Key Stats set up nicely for the Seaside course at Sea Island Resort.  It also allows us to factor in Course History as well as an emphasis on Vegas (odds to win).  Below are the FGI PGA Model Overall weights I will be using this week along with the Key Stats weights for the The RSM Classic provided by our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics:
