With a body clock fully adjusted and fatigue no longer a factor, Justin Thomas came out firing and was ultimately able to hold off a determined Marc Leishman in a playoff to become the inaugural champion of the CJ CUP.  This concludes a monster calendar year of golf for Justin Thomas where he now finds himself the 3rd in the Official World Golf Rankings.  He is going to be a major factor when he sees the golf course later in 2018.  We also saw Justin Thomas’ ownership lower than what it should have been at the CJ CUP because of a mediocre performance by his standards at the CIMB Classic the week before.  Recency bias happens all the time in DFS Golf and with certain golfers it is completely unwarranted.  Justin Thomas is one of the elite golfers in the game right now and it does not take much to get these kinds of golfers going again.  As a matter of fact, that will be the case once again this week for the WGC-HSBC Champions where many of the world’s best golfers have assembled.  For many this will be their first time playing in this event at the Sheshan International GC in Shanghai, China so it will be interesting to see how quickly they figure the course out and keep up with the scoring necessary to contend here.  For others there is a lot of familiarity with the Sheshan International GC and it is just a matter of if they have any rust in their game and the right amount of birdies to be in the mix come Sunday.

The Sheshan International GC is another short par 72 measuring in at 7,266 yards so once again this will be one of the easiest courses these golfers will play on all season.  This will be the fifth consecutive year hosting this WGC event and the eighth overall so there is plenty of course history for us to work off of.  Both strategic golfers and big hitters have performed well here in the past and with reasonable conditions shaping up I would expect the winning score to be around 20 under par.

The FGI PGA Model is going to assist us with our lineup building process because it identifies the best golfers with solid Current Form and whose Key Stats set up nicely for the Sheshan International GC.  It also allows us to factor in Course History as well as an emphasis on Vegas (odds to win).  Below are the FGI PGA Model Overall weights I will be using this week along with the Key Stats weights for the WGC-HSBC Champions provided by our friends at Fantasy Golf Metrics:
