Statboy’s Weekend Golf Plays – Shriners Hospitals for Children Open
The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings. Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring. Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.
Great importance is put on birdies and eagles and conversely very little is put on bogeys or worse for accumulating fantasy points. Due to this fact, Birdie or Better % is the primary Key Stat when analyzing golfers. Par 3, 4, 5 Scoring will also be considered especially when previous success on a specific course had a high correlation to one or more of those Key Stats.
Rounds 1 & 2 Recap for Shriners Hospitals for Children Open:
With almost two rounds of golf complete at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, we have a projected cut hovering around the +1 mark. The second round will be completed early tomorrow morning because just like the first round, it was too suspended due to darkness. The projected +1 cut line is unusually high since the typical winning score has been around 20-under-par for this event at the TPC Summerlin. The gusty winds, especially during the PM wave on both days, have definitely played a factor so far in scoring.
On Thursday Whee Kim shot a bogey free, six-under-par 65 to earn the clubhouse lead before Round 1 was suspended due to darkness. The UNLV alum, Charley Hoffman, also had a good first round after posting a 3-under-par score of 68. He is definitely the fan favorite here this week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and will be donating his winnings to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. Round 1 also had a late WD from Kevin Na which caught most gamers by surprise and did not leave much time to make any lineup adjustments.
In the second round we saw J.J. Spaun follow up his first round score of 66 with a 65 and take a three shot lead over Kelly Kraft. Kelly Kraft actually had a hole-in-one on the 5th hole and has three holes remaining to complete his second round. Chesson Hadley rebounded nicely after a rough Round 1 on Friday and also shot a 65 that featured 7 birdies and an eagle. The first two rounds also featured a few notables that failed to impress such as Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson. Both sit on the bubble and will hopefully have a tee time later Saturday morning.
