Statboy’s Weekend Golf Plays – RSM Classic

The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings.  Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring.  Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.

Great importance is put on birdies and eagles and conversely very little is put on bogeys or worse for accumulating fantasy points.  Due to this fact, Birdie or Better % is the primary Key Stat when analyzing golfers.  Par 3, 4, 5 Scoring will also be considered especially when previous success on a specific course had a high correlation to one or more of those Key Stats.

Rounds 1 & 2 Recap for the RSM Classic:

Georgia alum Chris Kirk fired an opening round 9-under 63 on the Plantation Course at Sea Island Golf Club.  His first round featured an 18-foot putt for eagle on his final hole to take a one-shot lead.  Chris Kirk won at Sea Island four years ago and will make for an attractive Weekend Golf play.  Brandt Snedeker is making his first PGA TOUR start since having to cut his season short last year due to a sternum injury.  He shot a Round 1 67 on the Seaside Course, which will be used for the final two rounds of the RSM Classic.

PGA TOUR rookie Austin Cook took the lead in Round 2 with an 8-under 62 and has a one-shot lead heading into the weekend.  He has gone bogey-free on both the Plantation Course and Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club.  Brian Gay sits alone in second place after shooting a 64 on the Seaside Course and will look to give Austin Cook a run for his money over the weekend.

Notable missed cuts were Bill Haas, Charles Howell III, JT Poston, Jaime Lovemark, Scott Brown, Danny Lee, Jason Kokrak, Graeme McDowell and Ollie Schniederjans.  If you are like me where your Classic Golf lineups are dead, Weekend Golf gives you an opportunity to recoup some of those losses.
