ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:
After a T12 finish at THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK last week, Justin Thomas was to get back to work at Sherwood Country Club. He got off to a fast start in Thousand Oaks, California when he shot a round one 7-under 65 at and followed that up with another 7-under 65 in round two. Thomas will enter the weekend as the 36-hole leader at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD. After winning the BMW PGA Championship a fortnight ago over on the European Tour, Tyrrell Hatton returned stateside last week and finished T3 at THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK. He continued that great form Thursday and Friday at Sherwood Country Club when he shot a total of 11-under par. The Englishman sits three strokes behind Justin Thomas on the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD leaderboard. Patrick Cantlay remained in good form during the opening rounds at Sherwood Country Club after a T8 finish at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and then a T38 finish at THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK last week. He sits tied with Scottie Scheffler in fourth place on the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD leaderboard heading into the weekend. Lanto Griffin continues to impress on the golf course after firing 13-under par thus far. He is joined by Dylan Frittelli at T2 on the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD leaderboard. The biggest surprise so far has been the play of Tiger Woods. He is tied for 66th place (out of 77 golfers) after he shot a round one 4-over 76 but did manage to right the ship with a 6-under 66 in round two. The ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD is a no cut event, so all golfers are still in play for Weekend Golf. The bunched-up leaderboard with plenty of scoring opportunities sets up for an exciting conclusion in Thousand Oaks, California.
