Stat Boy’s Weekend Warriors – WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational

WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:
After missing the cut at the 3M Open last week, Brooks Koepka was looking to bounce back at one of his favorite courses on the PGA TOUR, TPC Southwind. Well, Koepka matched his career best by shooting a round one 8-under 62 at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. It was finally a round when his putting matched his outstanding ball striking. Koepka’s putter would cool down significantly in round two when he shot a 1-over 71 but he remains firmly in the mix as he looks to defend his WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational title over the weekend. Along with Koepka, Rickie Fowler and Brendon Todd also got off to a fast start at TPC Southwind. It was Brendon Todd though and his exceptional short game that separated him on Friday morning by two shots over Rickie Fowler. Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Cantlay all failed to make any impact during the opening rounds at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Matthew Fitzpatrick however remained hot after his solo 3rd place finish last time out at the Memorial Tournament. After shooting even par on Thursday he went low with a 6-under 64 on Friday. Course specialist, Chez Reavie, went bogey free in the second round and will enter the weekend tied with Brooks Koepka and Byeong Hun An in third place. Webb Simpson continues to display an impressive tee-to-green game and his putting is right there too at TPC Southwind. He currently sits with four other golfers in tie for 8th place. If mother nature cooperates, all signs point to another entertaining finish in Memphis, Tennessee over the weekend.
Round 1 Scoring Avg: 69.705
Round 2 Scoring Avg: 70.013
