After a T7 finish at the TOUR Championship based on 72-hole scoring last time out, Patrick Reed was hoping to get his 2020-21 PGA TOUR season started in the right direction. Well, Reed has done exactly that so far at the U.S. Open when he shot a round one 4-under 66 at Winged Foot Golf Club’s West Course and followed that up with an even par 70 in round two. Reed will enter the weekend as the solo leader after 36 holes at the U.S. Open. Bryson DeChambeau also got off to a fast start at Winged Foot Golf Club’s West Course which featured an eagle on his final hole of the day on Friday. He is alone in solo 2nd place and one stroke behind Reed on the U.S. Open leaderboard. After a T3 finish at the TOUR Championship based on 72-hole scoring, Justin Thomas came to Mamaroneck, New York with winning another major on his mind and brought his “A” game. He sits along with Harris English and Rafa Cabrera Bello at T3 on the U.S. Open leaderboard heading into the weekend. Xander Schauffele continued his solid form after finishing last season with a “win” at the TOUR Championship based on 72-hole scoring. He is joined by Hideki Matsuyama, Matthew Wolff, Brendon Todd and Thomas Pieters at T7 on the U.S. Open leaderboard. Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and Tiger Woods all failed to make the cut at the U.S. Open and thus will have to wait until the Masters in November as their next chance at a major championship. Unfortunately, not much scoring is in the weekend forecast at the U.S. Open, but all signs point to a fantastic finish at Winged Foot Golf Club’s West Course.

Round 1 Scoring Avg: 72.563
Round 2 Scoring Avg: 75.252
