Travelers Championship Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:
Mackenzie Hughes was the first-round leader of the Travelers Championship after he flirted with a 59 and ultimately shot a 10-under 60 in the first round. He fell back one spot after a second round 2-under 68 and is currently T2 along with Will Gordon. Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Marc Leishman, Brendon Todd and Brendan Steele all had solid opening rounds and sit four off the lead in a tie for fourth place. Bryson DeChambeau continues to muscle his way around golf courses and TPC River Highlands could not contain him either. In fact, he hit a 428-yard drive (with the help of the cart path) on the 10th hole! He would end up with a bogeying the hole after a poor sequence with his short game. The Scientist currently sits in an eleven-way tie for ninth place. 50-year-old Phil Mickelson has been the story of the tournament so far. He was paired with Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau during the opening rounds and was able to outclass them both. Lefty’s all-around game has been working thus far as he fired a 6-under 64 in round one and then a 7-under 63 in round two. He is the 36-hole leader heading into the weekend at TPC River Highlands.
