The Honda Classic Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:
Coming off a T65 finish last week at THE PLAYERS Championship, Aaron Wise was hoping to build off that respectable made cut at The Honda Classic this week. So far so good as he kept that good form going during the opening rounds when he shot a round one 6-under 64 and followed that up with another 6-under 64 in round two. Wise will enter the weekend as the solo leader at PGA National’s Champion Course with a three-stroke advantage. Shane Lowry also carried over his momentum from last week’s solo 8th place finish THE PLAYERS Championship when he shot a total of 7-under par on Thursday and Friday at The Honda Classic. He is currently sitting at T5 on the leaderboard after two rounds of play in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Apparently last week’s missed cut at THE PLAYERS Championship was nothing to worry about as Russell Henley continued to show off his elite tee-to-green game during the first two rounds at PGA National’s Champion Course. He joins Shane Lowry at T5 on The Honda Classic leaderboard heading into the weekend. Sungjae Im and Joaquin Niemann continue to impress on the golf course after both fired 4-under par thus far and sit T16 on The Honda Classic leaderboard. Lee Westwood, Doug Ghim, Dylan Frittelli, Martin Kaymer, Wyndham Clark, Matt Wallace and Ian Poulter all made too many mistakes and will not get a weekend tee time at PGA National’s Champion Course. The weather in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is expected to remain calm over the weekend so an exciting conclusion with plenty of Weekend Golf scoring should be in order
Round 1 Scoring Avg: 71.490
Round 2 Scoring Avg: 70.669
