The Genesis Invitational Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:
Coming off a T39 finish last week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Sam Burns kept his good form going during the opening rounds of The Genesis Invitational when he shot a round one 7-under 64 and followed that up with a 5-under 66 in round two. Burns will enter the weekend as the solo leader in Pacific Palisades, California. Dustin Johnson skipped the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last week to arrive fresh at The Genesis Invitational. He recently won the Saudi International over on the European Tour and kept that great form going at Riviera Country Club when he shot a total of 7-under par on Thursday and Friday. He sits T2 on the leaderboard after two rounds of play. Jordan Spieth was also coming in hot and showed off his elite short game during the first two rounds at Riviera Country Club. He is joined by Max Homa and Wyndham Clark at T6 on The Genesis Invitational leaderboard heading into the weekend. Joaquin Niemann continues to impress on the golf course after firing 7-under par thus far. He is joins DJ at T2 after 36 holes in Pacific Palisades, California. Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, Hideki Matsuyama, Bubba Watson, Carlos Ortiz and Sergio Garcia all made too many mistakes to get a weekend tee time at Riviera Country Club. The weather in Pacific Palisades, California is expected to remain sunny and calm over the weekend and with a bunched-up leaderboard behind Sam Burns, an exciting conclusion at The Genesis Invitational should be in order.
