By Erik Dantoft

THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:

After a solo 5th place finish at the U.S. Open to begin his 2020-21 PGA TOUR season, Xander Schauffele was more than ready to get back to work at Shadow Creek Golf Course.  He got off to a fast start in Las Vegas, Nevada when he shot a round one 6-under 66 at and followed that up with a 8-under 64 in round two.  Schauffele will enter the weekend as the 36-hole leader at THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK.  After winning the BMW PGA Championship last week over on the European Tour, Tyrrell Hatton returned stateside and got off to fast starts at Shadow Creek Golf Course.  The Englishman sits three strokes behind Xander Schauffele on THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK leaderboard.  Russell Henley remained in good form during the opening rounds at Shadow Creek Golf Course after a T27 finish at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open last week.  He sits alone in solo 3rd place on THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK leaderboard heading into the weekend.  Collin Morikawa returned to his regular self after missing his previous two cuts.  He is joined by Jason Kokrak at T5 THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK leaderboard.  The biggest surprise so far has been the play of Matthew Wolff.  He is tied for dead last after he shot a round one 8-over 80 at and followed that up with a 1-over 73 in round two.  THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK is a no cut event, so all golfers are still in play for Weekend Golf.  The bunched-up leaderboard after Xander Schauffele sets up for an exciting conclusion in the Entertainment Capital of the World.
