McIlroy Dominates at Genesis Scottish Open, Hatton and Kim Shine as Weekend Golf Promises Thrills
Rory McIlroy took the Genesis Scottish Open by storm in the opening rounds, showcasing his incredible skills on the course. He kicked off with a brilliant 6-under 64 in round one, followed by an impressive 4-under 66 in round two. With a one-stroke lead, he enters the weekend as the 36-hole leader, boasting a 32.55% implied probability of clinching victory.
Scottie Scheffler, one of the top favorites before the tournament, lived up to expectations with a stellar performance. He shot a remarkable 7-under par over Thursday and Friday, placing him currently at T7 after Friday’s round in North Berwick, Scotland.
Tyrrell Hatton is having a fantastic time at The Renaissance Club, demonstrating his mastery of both tee-to-green play and putting in the first two rounds. He’s sitting comfortably at T2 on the leaderboard with a score of 9-under par. Joining him at T2 is Tom Kim, who delivered an equally impressive 9-under par performance, eager to reclaim his position in the winner’s circle on the PGA TOUR.
Unfortunately, Patrick Cantlay, Matt Fitzpatrick, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, and Adam Scott struggled to find their rhythm during the opening rounds, resulting in their exclusion from the weekend tee times.
As we move forward, North Berwick, Scotland is expected to experience breezy conditions on Saturday, with a chance of showers. Sunday will bring strong winds, particularly in the afternoon. Despite the challenging weather, we anticipate an exhilarating conclusion to the tournament, with plenty of excitement and high-scoring Weekend Golf action on the horizon.

Stat Boy’s Weekend Warriors for the Genesis Scottish Open:
Rory McIlroy – $11,200: Rory McIlroy had two great rounds in North Berwick, Scotland so far as he is overall currently averaging +4.15 strokes gained tee-to-green and -0.54 strokes gained putting at the Genesis Scottish Open. He is enjoying another test at The Renaissance Club and should remain in contention during rounds three and four. McIlroy is currently the 36-hole leader and with previous success already in this event, two low rounds over the weekend should be awaiting.
Scottie Scheffler – $11,000: Scottie Scheffler showed solid form in North Berwick, Scotland when he shot 7-under par at the Genesis Scottish Open during the opening rounds. He demonstrated a good grasp on how to attack The Renaissance Club as he averaged +3.07 strokes gained tee-to-green and -0.96 strokes gained putting. Scheffler is currently T7 and will likely remain in contention over the weekend while also racking up some Weekend Golf fantasy points at the Genesis Scottish Open.
Also consider:
Rickie Fowler – $10,200
Wyndham Clark – $9,800: Wyndham Clark is currently T17 as he shot a total of 5-under par at the Genesis Scottish Open so far. His ball-striking has been excellent, having averaged +0.51 strokes gained off-the-tee and +2.54 strokes gained approach. Clark is making the most of his visit to North Berwick, Scotland and has a good chance to remain in the mix if he can get his putter working at The Renaissance Club (-1.71 SG: P).
Tyrrell Hatton – $9,500: Tyrrell Hatton continues to golf at a high level with his tee-to-green working (+2.95 SG: T2G) and his putter also doing its job (+0.16 SG: P). After Friday’s round at The Renaissance Club, his implied chance of winning Genesis Scottish Open is 18.34%. In other words, Hatton is projected to maintain his current scoring pace over the weekend in North Berwick, Scotland and remain in contention. That also means that a particularly good Weekend Golf fantasy score would be on the way too.
Also consider:
Xander Schauffele – $9,600
Viktor Hovland – $9,300
Tommy Fleetwood – $9,200
Shane Lowry – $8,600: Shane Lowry’s short game was outstanding during the first two rounds of the Genesis Scottish Open (+0.73 SG: ARG & +2.42 SG: P). He is currently T17 on the leaderboard while losing ground on the field with his ball-striking (-1.08 SG: OTT & -0.97 SG: APP). If Lowry can maintain his short game and get his ball-striking working, then he could be in for two nice rounds at The Renaissance Club over the weekend.
Tom Kim – $8,100: Tom Kim is currently T2 as of Friday evening and should be feeling confident about his game. He shot a total of 9-under par during the first two rounds while averaging +2.69 strokes gained tee-to-green and +0.41 strokes gained putting at The Renaissance Club Thursday and Friday. Kim made a nice run over the weekend last year at the Genesis Scottish Open so another one should not be out of the question this time around as well.
Also consider:
Min Woo Lee – $8,300
Sam Burns – $7,900: Sam Burns is currently T5 at the Genesis Scottish Open as of Friday evening and his $7.9k salary sets him up to be a worthy Weekend Golf lineup selection over on DraftKings. He is clearly playing quality golf right now at The Renaissance Club after shooting 8-under par there thus far. Burns had a fantastic putting performance (+2.69 SG: 9) while his tee-to-green game was lacking behind (-0.08 SG: T2G). If he can maintain his putting stroke and get his tee-to-green game going, then two rounds in the 60s for Weekend Golf should be on the way.
Brian Harman – $7,800: Brian Harman had his whole bag working during the opening rounds of the Genesis Scottish Open. He averaged +0.89 strokes gained tee-to-green and +1.71 strokes gained putting while golfing at The Renaissance Club. He has a respectable 4.10% implied chance of winning in North Berwick, Scotland so with only a $7,800 salary, Harman is difficult to pass up for Weekend Golf.
Byeong Hun An – $7,700: Byeong Hun An is T2 at the Genesis Scottish Open and makes for a solid Weekend Golf value play due to his fair implied chance of winning the tournament (6.01%) compared to others in his salary range. Simply put, oddsmakers think An will hang around at the top of the leaderboard over the weekend at The Renaissance Club. He simply needs to maintain his tee-to-green game and stay hot with the putter (+2.98 SG: T2G & +0.13 SG: P) to make that happen. That would also translate into a good Weekend Golf fantasy score in North Berwick, Scotland.
Also consider:
Padraig Harrington – $7,300
Nicolai Hojgaard – $7,200
Erik Van Rooyen – $6,700
Good luck.
