Stat Boy’s Weekend Warriors – Vivint Houston Open

By Erik Dantof

Vivint Houston Open Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:

After having to withdraw from THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK and the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD due to COVID-19, Dustin Johnson was hoping to shed any rust at the Vivint Houston Open before heading to the Masters next week.  He got off to a slow start in Houston, Texas when he shot a round one 2-over 72 but followed that up with a 4-under 68 in round two.  DJ will enter the weekend at T14 on the Vivint Houston Open leaderboard.  After winning the BMW PGA Championship over on the European Tour about a month ago, Tyrrell Hatton returned stateside and finished T3 at THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK and T28 at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD last time out.  He continued that great form Thursday and Friday at Memorial Park Golf Course when he shot a total of 1-over par.  The Englishman sits at T36 on the Vivint Houston Open leaderboard.  Sam Burns remained in good form during the opening rounds at Memorial Park Golf Course after a T34 finish at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open last time out.  He is the 36-hole leader at the Vivint Houston Open heading into the weekend.  Tony Finau continues to impress on the golf course after firing 2-under par thus far.  He joins Dustin Johnson at T14 on the Vivint Houston Open leaderboard along with Francesco Molinari, Kristoffer Ventura, Shane Lowry, Adam Long and Harold Varner III.  Sergio Garcia and Jordan Spieth both missed the cut at the Vivint Houston Open and will get a head start on their travel plans to Augusta, Georgia for the Masters next week.  Even though Memorial Park Golf Course is playing far more difficult than originally expected, the bunched-up leaderboard sets up for an exciting conclusion in Houston, Texas.
