Stat Boy’s Weekend Warriors – Farmers Insurance Open

Farmers Insurance Open Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:

After opening 2021 with a T31 finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, Viktor Hovland had few problems getting around in La Jolla, California during the opening rounds of the Farmers Insurance Open when he shot a round one 2-under 70 and followed that up with a blistering 7-under 65 in round two.  Hovland will enter the weekend as the solo leader at the South Course at Torrey Pines GC.  Jon Rahm withdrew early from The American Express last week as a precaution and it appears to have paid thus far at the Farmers Insurance Open.  He has been able to continue his great form from his T7 finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Torrey Pines GC when he shot a total of 8-under par on Thursday and Friday.  He sits at T2 on the leaderboard after two rounds of play.  Tony Finau is coming off a solo 4^th place finish at The American Express last week and he carried that momentum into the first two rounds at Torrey Pines GC.  He finished T6 in this event last year and joins Rahm at T2 after 36 holes at the Farmers Insurance Open heading into the weekend.  Adam Scott continues to impress on the golf course after firing 8-under par thus far.  He also joins Rahm and Finau at T2 along with Patrick Reed, Ryan Palmer and Lanto Griffin on the Farmers Insurance Open leaderboard.  Harris English, Matthew Wolff, Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler, Jason Day and last week’s The American Express winner, Si Woo Kim, all made too many mistakes to get a weekend tee time at the South Course at Torrey Pines GC.  The weather in La Jolla, California should improve over the weekend and produce lower scores over the weekend and with a bunched-up leaderboard, an exciting conclusion at the Farmers Insurance Open should be in order.
