Stat Boy’s Weekend Warriors – Arnold Palmer Invitational

By Erik Dantoft

Arnold Palmer Invitational Leaderboard Heading into the Weekend:

Coming off an unlucky missed cut at The Genesis Invitational last time out, Corey Conners bounced back with his good ball striking during the opening rounds of the Arnold Palmer Invitational when he shot a round one 6-under 66 and followed that up with a 3-under 69 in round two.  Conners will enter the weekend as the solo leader at Bay Hill Golf Club and Lodge.  Rory McIlroy carried over his momentum from last week’s T6 finish at the WGC – Workday Championship when he shot a total of 7-under par on Thursday and Friday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.  He sits T3 on the leaderboard after two rounds of play in Orlando, Florida.  Viktor Hovland was also coming in off some momentum from the WGC – Workday Championship and continued to show off his elite iron game during the first two rounds at Bay Hill Golf Club and Lodge.  He joins Rory McIlroy and Lanto Griffin at T3 on the Arnold Palmer Invitational leaderboard heading into the weekend.  Martin Laird continues to impress on the golf course after firing 8-under par thus far.  He is by himself in solo 2nd place at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.  Patrick Reed, Francesco Molinari, Billy Horschel, Sam Burns, Marc Leishman and Cameron Davis all made too many mistakes and will not get a weekend tee time at Bay Hill Golf Club and Lodge.  The weather in Orlando, Florida is expected to get wet and windy over the weekend so a similar conclusion to last year’s event could be in order.

Round 1 Scoring Avg:  73.163

Round 2 Scoring Avg:  72.828
