Congratulation to all of those that I heard from who had success in GPPs last week for both the Olympics and the John Deere Classic and there were many of you. We will start with The Olympics as we identified the winner, Justin Rose, which is always the most important thing in large field GPPs. It is even more important when that winner is a contrarian play owned by under 10% of the field. Personally, my exposure to Rose ended up being at about 50% in my GPPs, which paid off handsomely. If Gregory Bourdy doesn’t fall to pieces at the end of Saturday and Danny Willett doesn’t kick it in on Sunday, it could have been a much bigger win. Overall it was solid as Rose, Cabrera-Bello (T5), Grillo (T8), and Wiesberger (T11) did nicely for their price. Reed, Kjeldsen, Bourdy, Bertasio, and Colsaerts were fine for their price, but we needed a bit more, especially in crunch time on Sunday. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing the big green numbers coming into Sunday and watching your guys and your teams fall back throughout the day. That happened to me on Sunday as I had about $8,000 staring at me early Sunday morning and ended up with about $3,900. We just need to keep putting ourselves in contention and sometimes they go our way.

As for the John Deere Classic, with the exception of a few key missed cuts like Robert Streb, Gary Woodland, and Spencer Levin, it was a good week from the Core. First, the complete fade of Zach Johnson and Steve Sticker turned out as well as possible as neither even approached paying off their price. Yet again, the Core contained the winner (Ryan Moore). Beyond that we had others like Kevin Na, Ricky Barnes, Keegan Bradley, Patrick Rodgers, Jamie Lovemark, Shawn Stefani, and Hudson Swafford all perform admirably considering their price.

This week we head back to North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship, which has a surprisingly strong field as we get geared up for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

You will see that I am focusing more on a balanced approach this week rather than a stars and scrubs. I feel like there are a bunch of guys in the middle range that have a legitimate chance of a Top 10 and even a win. Thus, I am going to try and get the most of those guys in my lineups as possible. Best of luck this week!
