Last week was a fun week in that I was able to attend the WGC FedEx St Jude and spend all of Saturday following many of the world’s best players.  I was impressed at TPC Southwind as it is the type of course that I really enjoy with a lot of water, some possible big numbers, and some real cool risk/reward holes.  Although I knew that TPC Southwind ranks atop the leaders in water balls every year, I was amazed at how many guys hit the water.  Overall though a really great experience attending the tournament and checking out a course I have admired for years and now have a nice feel for.  The disappointing part about last week is how I did in the FGWC.  I had seven teams in the 250 team field and I strategically built them so that I would likely get at least a couple teams in the Top 100.  This also ensured that I would not have six or seven teams in the Top 100 as well, but that was what I was willing to accept.  The likely scenario for my core/lineups that I built was to have 3 or 4 teams finish in the Top 100.  I saw several of the high volume players in DFS make bold moves and replicate many of their lineups.  One player even had the exact same lineup for 8 of his teams.  Unfortunately for him those 8 teams finished outside the Top 100.  That was the risk he was willing to take.  My strategy included about 18-20 players spread among my 7 teams with nobody being owned on more than 3 teams.  It took an absolutely colossal flop from guys like Fitzpatrick, Kisner, Kokrak, and Koepka to keep me from having three or four teams advance.  I was not willing to have zero advance to this week’s tournament however and I will have to make due with two teams and try and get one to the Live Final in New Jersey.  We shall see.  Best of luck to all of you this week!
