The inaugural edition of the CJ Cup will be remembered by the best player in the world right now demonstrating just how clutch he is in closing tournaments, wind bringing guys to their knees and making them embarrass themselves (I am talking about you Xander), and the fact that none of us could see the outstanding ending due to technical difficulties.  I am very happy that I went back to the well with Justin Thomas after a disappointing CIMB classic for him.  I had a large exposure to JT, but unfortunately every one of those teams carried along with it one or two grenades that killed any hopes of a big GPP win.  What really blew me away last week was Justin Thomas’s ownership across GPPs, which was only 8-10%.  Any time you can get one of the top ranked players in the world, coming in with good form at under 10% ownership, it is an automatic play no matter the price or pricing structure.  I just wish we knew it was going to be so ridiculously low, I would have gone 100%.

Another item that I found interesting was that JT was not on the winning $4 (20-max team) with 17,000 entries.  Not having the winner is extremely rare in a GPP this size.  The others who had a positive output for my core included Reavie (T15), Glover (T15), List (T5), and Grace (T15).  The aforementioned grenades included Schauffele, Woodland, Cauley, and of course everybody’s favorite Mr. headcase himself, Graham Delaet.  I included him in my core because I liked his prospects on the course, but mentioned I could not stomach owning him myself.  Well I ended up using him in a couple of my lower dollar contests because I would be more pissed at myself if he did well after I recommended him.  In the end, I got what I deserved for even mentioning the guys name, a big fat wd.  This will mark the last time he is included in my core.  If he happens to win at some point, good for him, but enough is enough for me.  Overall it was a net-profitable week, but min-cashes is not what we strive for in GPPs, so I am certainly not satisfied.

This week we have our last chance at late, late night golf.  Of course we have the TOC and Sony in Hawaii in January, but I would consider that early, late night golf.

Best of luck this week!
