Jeff’s Hardcore Core- WGC FedEx St Jude
Well I have to say that the 3M Open was a lot more fun in person last year, but it did have a fun and exciting finish this year albeit from our couches. It is always nice to see a journeyman grinder like Michael Thompson win, knowing it means so incredibly much to him, his family, and his career. It helps to offset the disgust I have for guys like Dustin Johnson who could care less about a chance at a million dollars and completely checking out of a tournaments and blatantly quitting. I said in my column last week that I wondered why he was even coming to the Twin Cities and wondered if we would get the DJ that cares less about a tournament like that and whether he would completely mail in his effort. I didn’t know that it would only take such a short period of time to get our answer. I was certainly glad we steered clear.
This week’s WGC kicks off a real nice stretch of golf that will lead into next week’s PGA Championship and then the FedEx Cup playoffs in the weeks to come. Great fields and hopefully some good contests for us on Draftkings. If you have not been trailing our handicapping, I would recommend you check out our weekly betting article. The amount of wins we have from it is staggering this year. Unfortunately none of us had Michael Thompson last week 🙁
For a fun contest this week, we are going to be offering a limited edition, FGI mask to the FGI members with the highest ROI on the week. All you have to do if you have a winning week is tweet it out and we will select the highest three and send you a mask. This is great for any size bankroll, whether you are playing $100, $1,000 or $5,000 in entries, you still have the same chance. Cash games, GPPs, Showdowns, it doesn’t matter. For more details you can check out our podcast, but basically tweet out a screen shot of your winnings to make yourself eligible.
I hope you enjoy my article this week. I have included key aspects to the winning lineups for the last six WGC events, which I have heard from so many of you that you like to see and I think they are absolutely critical to know if you are going to give yourself the best chance to win a large field GPP. All of these winning lineups have very similar features and they are many of the same things we preach about all the time. Nobody in the industry talks about this stuff, but it is huge.
Best of luck this week Team FGI!
