Jeff’s Hardcore Core- WGC Dell Match Play
Last year was the first year we had DFS for the Match-Play and FGI members did extremely well. A large part of that success stemmed from having the correct strategy coming into the tournament before a shot was even taken. I will go into our strategy below in my column and we will also cover it thoroughly in our podcast. Just like last year, we did something special and just made it available to FGI premium members. We talked a ton about specific strategy for this event and about the bracket in depth, including all of our plays. Usually we do not reveal all of our picks on the podcast, in order to keep them sacred in our articles for our loyal members and not to the entire world via itunes. The podcast is 100% everything we got this week. I think Team FGI truly dominates this week.
Before we dive in, lets recap last week’s Valspar Championship.
What went right? A strong week overall outside of not having Paul Casey in my core. Guys like Jason Kokrak, Sunjae Im, Lucas Glover, Russell Knox, and even DJ helped a lot of my lineups climb high up the leaderboard. Even guys like Kramer Hickok, Kevin Kisner, and Nick Taylor all put up admirable finishes despite the fact that they were much higher in the standings at one point before falling back.
What went wrong? The obvious was not having Casey, but Sergio did not post the type of performance I expected from him. Probably the worst was Keegan Bradley who reverted to old Keegan Bradley and bombed out on Friday with a disgusting 77. That snapped a long cut made streak for him and is quite troubling. Lesser owned guys like Ty Hatton and Chesson Hadley missed the cut and took a chunk out of my lineups as well.
I am anxious for this week’s event so let’s put the Valspar behind us.
