Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Waste Management Phoenix Open

To say there was carnage last week on Friday would be putting it mildly. Only about 5% of teams had all six of their guys get through the cut across most contests on Draftkings and even less once Martin Laird bit the dust on Saturday. I was one of those 95% that did not get all 6 guys through the cut on most of my teams, mostly because I went heavy on DJ and Day. Since Friday I have been trying to figure out in my head what happened to those two and I still do not have an explanation. DFS golf has variance and sometimes the unexplainable happens. Why I am kicking myself is because I was well overweight Jon Rahm, but unfortunately he was paired with one of my grenades on most every team. Outside of Rahm there were some other solid performances from those in my core including CHIII, Snedeker, Woodland, Hadwin, and Steele. Overall though there were too many guys who bombed making it a losing week for me. I have heard from many of you who were able to have decent weeks so that helps ease my pain of having my first losing week for the Farmers in the last four years.

This week is always one of my favorite tournaments of the year and it became even more interesting when I discovered the cluster that is Draftkings pricing this week. I have no idea what happened, but it is truly a mess. Unlike other times (major tournaments) when the pricing is soft, it is more than that this week. There are about 10-15 guys that just make you shake your head at how they are priced. Some of those players, i.e. Matt Kuchar and Daniel Berger among many are so badly miss priced that the masses will gravitate toward them. It will make being contrarian pretty easy this week, which is exactly what I like to do with GPP play. I will list a bunch of guys that I think will be incredibly high owned this week and to be honest, I think fading them might be a strong strategy.

Best of luck this week!
